Program Goals and Expectations:

The goal of the PCA Rec program is to teach athletes the fundamentals of cheerleading - including: stunting, jumps, tumbling, motions, etc. at a pace appropriate to the skill level of the team.  Athletes on a PCA Rec team will practice 2 days a week and attend 4 ICA competitions, with the potential to attend the State Competition in November if a bid is received.

Athletes may register for the Rec program directly or may be placed on a Rec team after the evaluation process is completed.  We anticipate no more than 2 grade levels will be combined when forming a PCA Rec team.

PCA is committed to forming smaller Rec teams to allow for greater participation and individualized attention to help athletes further develop cheerleading skills.

The commitment level for Rec teams will be lower than our Super Rec teams.  While tumbling classes will not be a requirement of athletes on Rec teams, we do strongly encourage athletes that wish to continue cheerleading in future seasons to work on tumbling skills outside of practice as it is a valued skill.

Coaches:

  • Any parent that wishes to be considered for a Head Coach position or Assistant Coach position on a PCA Rec team should contact the Board for additional information.  We will provide all training and support necessary to develop a successful coaching staff.
